Abdülhamit PehlivanDirector of Environmental Protection and Control
BACKGROUND OF DIRECTOR:
He was born in Büyükçekmece in 1990. He graduated from Selcuk University (Konya Technical University) Environmental Engineering Department in 2012 and Anadolu University International Relations Department in 2016. Between 2014-2019, he took postgraduate courses in Istanbul Technical University, Department of Environmental Engineering and Aydın University, Department of Local Authorities and Local Administration. He continues his education at Istanbul Arel University Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration. In 2012, he started to work as an Environmental Engineer in Büyükçekmece Municipality. He is still working as the Foreign Relations Manager, which he was appointed in 2015. He can speak English.

Mission
To provide services to the people of Büyükçekmece on environmental protection and improvement, to raise awareness of the society on environmental and to provide quality and sustainable services with a management understanding that is people oriented and participatory.
Vision
To be a leading unit that works for the rational management of environmental resources with which the quality of life is increased by preventing and controlling all polluting factors that cause environmental pollution for a livable environment.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Directorate of Environmental Protection and Control:
- To take measures, to ensure that such measures taken that will not harm the mental and physical health of people, animal health, natural vegetation, green areas and buildings, the order and safety of society, underground and surface water areas and water reserve areas and prevent environmental pollution in terms of air and noise, and to control their implementation,
- To ensure that less waste is disposed from residences and workplaces regarding solid waste disposal, to prevent the disposal of harmful substances in the waste, to recover solid wastes and to supervise the work done to ensure participation in material recovery activities,
- To prepare and distribute informative posters, brochures and booklets for the development and establishment of environmental awareness,
- To organize social activities related to work items,
- To take the necessary legal actions about the people, institutions or organizations causing the pollution,
- To monitor, support and direct the training activities necessary to bring efficiency to environmental practices and investments, to promote the investments made and at the project stage, to conduct public research on environmental problems, to organize meetings,
- To express opinion on the licensing of non-sanitary enterprises,
- To prepare annual activity reports and strategic plan and performance program related to our field of duty.
