CLARIFICATION TEXT ABOUT THE SECURITY CAMERAS PLACED IN THE TR BÜYÜKÇEKMECE MUNICIPALITY

This clarification text has been prepared by TR Büyükçekmece Municipality as data controller within the scope of Article 10 of the 6698 Law on the Protection of Personal Data and the Communiqué on the Procedures and Principles to be complied with in Fulfilling the Obligation of Clarification.

For the institution security, security cameras are positioned in various sections of our service building without interfering with the private space of individuals. These cameras can be visible and/or hidden. Video recording is made in order to ensure building security.

Personal data regarding your visual recordings in question are processed automatically based on the legal grounds of "obligatory for the data controller to fulfill his legal obligations" in Article 5 of the Law and "data processing is mandatory for the legitimate interests of the data controller, provided that it does not harm the fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject". 

In this context, personal data may be transferred to judicial authorities or relevant law enforcement authorities, upon request, to resolve legal disputes or in accordance with the relevant legislation.
