Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque

SOKULLU MEHMET PASHA MOSQUE

Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque was named after the grand vizier of Süleyman the Magnificent. The date of construction is thought to be between 1566 and 1567. One row of face stone and two rows of bricks were used as building materials. The minaret of the mosque was carved from a single piece of stone. It is unique in Turkey with this feature. There is another similar one in the world only in Egypt.
