Büyükçekmece is one of the districts where our country's municipal and social life is the most advanced, and it has a very healthy environment for non-governmental organizations to live. Among these non-governmental organizations, Büyükçekmece Photography Club Association has a special place.
The association was founded under the presidency of Hürriyet Akın and by 7 founding members in 2010, and is growing rapidly with the support of Büyükçekmece Municipality. The first aim of our association is the comprehensive training of photography. 2 basic photography training is organized every year. Each basic training consists of 96 hours and is free of charge. Trainees who complete the training are given a certificate from the National Education Directorate. Nearly 200 trainees receive training in each period, and photography enthusiasm is combined with training. This training process takes place with the contribution of our important teachers in our country. In the previous term, important names such as Prof. Dr. Güler Ertan, Prof. Dr. Özer Kamburoğlu, Assoc.Prof. Oktay ÇOLAK, Hürriyet AKIN, Bekir Tuğçu, Erkan Yurt, İzzet Keribar, Muhsin Divan have provided training.
Our association continues to make very important contributions to the art of photography with other activities as well as the most important of them being the training. At the beginning of these, we can show the 4th International Büyükçekmece Photography Competition, which was held in 2013. With the participation of photographers from many countries such as China, India, Italy and Greece, photographs of the world met in Büyükçekmece and were exhibited within the scope of the festival.
In November 2012, our association gathered Turkey's photography associations in our district and organized the “Group Exhibition of Associations” with nearly photographs from 38 associations.
Our association enables their members to enjoy life and photography with both domestic and international trips it organizes within the scope of membership. The Association provides the Basic Photography Course in Büyükçekmece AKM Suna Pekuysal hall.
