Turkish food was admired

500 volunteer women prepared 500 kinds of food unique to 7 regions of Turkey by their own means and served them to 1500 foreign art ambassadors participating in the festival.

The ‘’Turkish Food Exhibition’’, which was held as part of the 23rd International Istanbul Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival this year, attracted intensive attention from guests from 64 countries attending the festival.

‘’Turkish Food Exhibition’’, one of the most special events of the International Istanbul Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival, consists of meals prepared by 500 volunteer women from Büyükçekmece.

 

They aim to Introduce Turkish Hospitality and Cuisine to the Whole World.

Women from Büyükçekmece, who started preparations days ago in order to introduce Turkish hospitality and cuisine to the whole World, cooked the dishes unique to 7 regions of Turkey and served them to 1500 young art ambassadors from 64 countries. Foreign guests, who formed long queues at the stands full of 500 kinds of foods from the Turkish cuisine, From stuffed leaves to rice, from kisir to meatballs, from keskek to kibbeh, from cake to pastry, consumed food they tasted for the first time with great admiration. Baklava, stuffed leaves and lahmacun were among the most popular food.
 

‘’All are Volunteer Women’’

Mayor of Büyükçekmece Dr. Hasan Akgün introduced Turkish food to art ambassadors from all over the World by showing the exhibiton. Providing information about the exhibition, Mayor Dr. Hasan Akgün said: “All of these women are housewives. They made all the traditional foods, cakes they know from Turkish cuisine in their own homes. These food consist of food from 7 regions of our country. Today, we are promoting Turkish cuisine to 1500 art ambassadors from 64 countries. It consists of food from various regions of our country, all of which are made by volunteer housewives.
