Nations are in a constant state of change and development from past to present. This change and development has also revealed many sources of information. What is important in this process is that the resources used lead the person to the right information. Libraries play an important role in finding the right information sources, preserving the information and enabling the user to access the information in the fastest and most accurate way.
Büyükçekmece Municipality provides librarianship services to citizens by establishing information centres to ensure access to information. Our public libraries, which serve under the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, aim to popularise the reading culture in the district by giving individuals the habit of reading books and libraries. In order for our citizens to have easy access to libraries, we continue to update and expand our reading spaces in accordance with reading preferences and basic librarianship principles.
The library materials in our collection are presented to the service of our citizens in accordance with the Anglo American Cataloguing Rules and DEWEY classification system according to international standards and principles.

MOBILE LIBRARY
Purpose of Mobile Library: Our mobile library carries library materials and services to existing or potential users, as well as to children in remote areas where conditions are not suitable, and at the same time reminds those who have forgotten the existence of libraries, and teaches our children about books, reading, libraries and responsibility. We bring our library together with our children and introduce our library.
BOOK FRIENDSHIP PROJECT
Our inter-school 'BOOK FRIENDSHIP' activity continues in order to strengthen our students' reading habits and sense of responsibility. The book borrowed by our student will then go to another school and another friend. While our children are curious about who will be their next book mate, they are also excitedly looking forward to the new books that will come to them from other schools.

We are actively participating in the project carried out by Boğaziçi University Technology and Education Laboratory for the Visually Impaired - GETEM (August 2017). We have contributed to the reading of books by many visually impaired citizens with our "Book in Hand, Author in Front of You" event.
