The Federation of International Dance Festivals (FIDAF), which is organized in 5 continents and 85 countries, chose Büyükçekmece Mayor Dr. Hasan Akgün as the "Honorary President" due to his success in the International Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival, which was chosen as the best festival in the world. ​

Çonan Mayor Ku Young, who is also the the President of FIDAF has personally awarded Dr. Hasan Akgün with the “Honorary Presidency Certificate” given for the first time since the establishment of FIDAF in a special ceremony held in the 2014 FIDAF General Assembly Meeting held in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea.
