MÜDÜRLÜĞE AİT BİLGİLER

DUTY, AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUB-DISTRICT DIRECTORATE OF VETERINARY AFFAIRS
Sub-District Directorate of Veterinary Affairs continues its activities within the boundaries of Büyükçekmece District, uninterruptedly, 365 days a year in order to take protective measures for the environment and public health in order to provide a more livable urban life with a high environmental quality, to combat zoonotic diseases that are likely to be transmitted from animals to humans, and to control the stray animal population in the district boundaries  in line with the procedures and principles specified in the Municipality Law No. 5393, Animal Protection Law No. 5199 and Implementation Regulation on the Protection of Animals.

Rehabilitation of Stray Animals: Notifications made via telephone, petition, mail or made personally are classified (sick, injured, aggressive) and recorded in the registration form. The forms are forwarded to the capture team. The exact content of the incident is learned by contacting the notifying person. Intervention is made to the cases by prioritizing the emergency cases. The animals caught in accordance with the procedures are brought to the rehabilitation center and recorded in the "Stray Animal Register". Collected animals are quarantined after preliminary examination. Sick animals are treated and cared for. Healthy animals without a mark (earring) are neutered. They are vaccinated against rabies with post-operative care. For those who have a request for adoption are allowed to be adopted by processing the relevant form. Animals that cannot be adopted are returned to the area where they were taken. Those who are aggressive and in need of care are left at the center.
Vaccination and Registration: Vaccinated animals are recorded in the "Stray Animal Registry" with their earring numbers. It is a legal obligation to register animals with owners in the "Municipality Register for Animals with Owners". For this, a health record issued by an authorized veterinarian showing that a valid rabies vaccine was administered is required. Those who do not have microchips are applied chips and their barcode numbers are written on the "Municipality Register for Animals with Owners” and health card. Chip scanning is performed on stray animals that come to our center, and thus health and ownership information is obtained.
Examination and Treatment: In our center, only stray animals are examined, treated and operated.
