Mayor Akgün visited Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery in South Korea

Mayor of Büyükçekmece Dr. Hasan Akgün visited Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery within United Nations Memorial Cemetery in South Korea.

Mayor Akgün, who went to South Korea in order to attend the General Assembly of the Federation of International Dance Festivals, visited the Turkish Cemetery in the Memorial and prayed.

 

“May their Souls Rest in Peace”

Mayor Akgün, visited Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery built for the 462 of the 724 Turkish soliders who died in Korean War which is within the Memorial Cemetery built in Busan, South Korea for all the United Nations soldiers who died between the years of 1950-1953 in Korean War.

 

After the emotional visit, Mayor Akgün who gained information about the Martyrs' Cemetery and Memorial from the Korean authorities said that: “We came for our sister city's Cheonan World Dance Festival and in the FIDAF (Federation of International Dance Festivals) Congress. Firstly we visited martyrdom of our heroic soldiers, who died for the liberation of Korean people and prayed for them. May their souls rest in peace.”
