Büyükçekmece Become Sister City with Dolyna from Ukraine

Mayor of Büyükçekmece Dr. Hasan Akgün and Mayor of Dolyna Ivan Dyriv signed the sister city protocol in the Büyükçekmece Council Chamber.

 

Within the framework of the signed sister city protocol between Büyükçekmece and Dolyna while aiming the develop the historical friendship ties more, deep and permanent cooperation will be carried in the areas of social, culture, education, sports and economy.

 

Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul Roman Nedilskyi, Consul Kateryna Pasynchuk, Mayor of Dolyna Ivan Dyriv, Ukrainian parliamentarians Tetiana Tsyba and Oksana Savchuk, Ivano – Frankivsk Region Honorary Consul General of Hungary Vasyl Vyhyvan, Mayor of Kalush Andrii Naida and Büyükçekmece Municipality Council Members joined to the sister city protocol ceremony.

 

“I wish the best for both countries”

 

After the Sister City Protocol signing ceremony, Mayor Dr. Hasan Akgün made a statement and said that “Today, Büyükçekmece Municipality and Ukraine's Dolyna Municipality signed and announced their sister city relations with the protocol. The Consul General of Ukraine and the Mayor of Dolyna Ivan, and the delegations from Ukraine and Büyükçekmece came together. They witnessed this protocol. I consider that the cities of Büyükçekmece and Dolyna of friendly Ukraine and Turkey, which have announced the sisterhood today, will make important contributions to each other in the field of culture, art, education and businessmen. I wish the best for both countries.”

 

“Relations truly gained a strategic importance and momentum.”

 

Roman Nedilskyi, Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul, stated that he was happy to witness a historical day and said: “Between the Municipality of Büyükçekmece and Dolyna city from Ukraine, a sister city agreement has signed. Relations between Ukraine and Turkey truly gained a strategic importance and momentum. As our Mayors has stated, before I was assigned to as the Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul, we started passport-free and visa-free border crossing between Ukraine and Turkey. I participated in both preparation and signing of this contract. This contract has utmost strategic importance. Both Turkish and Ukrainian citizens are able to visit each other’s countries without a visa or passport. This is a very important fusion as well as a very important contribution. We work not only at the level between states or heads of states, but now at the level between citizens. Today’s contract is a very important contribution to this process.

 

 “We signed a historical contract”

 

By stating that the protocol will make a new contribution to the relations between Ukraine and Turkey, Mayor of Dolyna Ivan Dyriv said “We signed a historical contract with Mr. Hasan Akgün, the Mayor of Büyükçekmece. This agreement will contribute to education, culture, arts, sports, child and family policy and many other economies and issues. As an administrator, we created this platform and I hope that the peoples of Turkey and Ukraine will become more integrated with each other. They will get to know each other better and as a result, the quality standards of our people will increase. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the signing of this contract. I hope that our support will continue and we will realize great projects.”
